Twilight Reflections

Multiple bright colors are mixed among various shades of greens and blues. 

30" x 40" x 1.5" Acrylic and collage on gallery-wrapped canvas. Edges are finished in black, suitable for hanging without a frame.

About Twilight Reflections:

I was fortunate to be staying around the corner from the Tate Britain Museum when I worked on a project in London several years ago and saw an exhibition of Sir John Everett Millais featuring the stunning Ophelia. As this painting started to reveal itself, the moody greenery reminiscent of Ophelia inspired me to add the water and reflections. However, this one seemed more playful, almost as if the colors were playing hide and seek among the trees. Though hard to capture the tiny reflective points in photos adequately, the effect is that the woods are full of fireflies. It reminds me of childhood summer evenings in East Texas spent chasing the tiny "lightning bugs."
